She Means Business: How Women Are Revolutionizing AI in Marketing

Ladies, have you ever felt like the tech world was designed without you in mind? You're not alone. While artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the way we do business, there's a concerning trend: women entrepreneurs are significantly less likely to adopt AI tools than their male counterparts. But here's the thing - when women do embrace AI, they're not just succeeding; they're revolutionizing how these tools are used in marketing and business.

The hesitation is real. From feeling like they’re cheating to concerns about losing the human touch in their businesses, many women entrepreneurs are sitting on the sidelines of the AI revolution. She Means Business - How Women Are Revolutionizing AI in Marketing with Kinsey Soderberg

[00:00:00] Kinsey Soderberg: 80 percent of the AI industry leaders are men for sure. There's also been studies done that women are two times less likely to use the top 50 AI tools than men. And there's been studies that AI tools can boost your productivity by up to 40%. So, if you think about more men are using AI tools than women, that means that more men are more likely to be put up for that promotion or get that raise.

This means then the gender income gap will increase instead of decreasing. Also, these tools, at this point, are trained by the user. So the tools are more likely to adapt the traits of men, the language of men, the critical thinking skills of men. And so when it comes to women using AI tools, it's really about us showing up in these tools, putting our own ideas, our own energy, our own language, thoughts into these tools and allowing ourselves to be represented in future AI models.

Now, ladies, have you ever felt like the tech world was designed without you in mind? You're not alone. Well, artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the way that we do business. There's a concerning trend. Women entrepreneurs are significantly less likely to adopt AI tools than their male counterparts.

But here's the thing, when women do embrace AI, they're not just succeeding. They're revolutionizing how these tools are used in marketing and business. The hesitation is real from feeling like they're cheating to concerns about losing the human [00:03:00] touch in their businesses. Many women entrepreneurs are sitting on the sidelines of the AI revolution.

But what if I told you that by not embracing AI, you're actually making your work harder and missing out on opportunities to scale your business while maintaining authenticity. Well, that's why I'm thrilled to introduce today's guest. Kinsey Soderbergh as the founder of Feel Good Social and Authentic AI, Kinsey has become a leading voice in helping entrepreneurs leverage AI without sacrificing their authentic brand voice.

Through her signature programs like AI Reels Club and Bland Blueprint for Chat GPT, she's helping business owners save up to 15 hours a week while maintaining that crucial human part connection her human first approach to AI has transformed the way entrepreneurs, particularly women view and use artificial intelligence in their businesses.

Hey, Kinsey, welcome to the show.

[00:03:47] Kinsey Soderberg: Hello. I'm so excited to be here. Thanks for having me.

[00:03:51] Mike Allton: My pleasure. I'm thrilled to have you. I'm thrilled to have another conversation. You graciously had me on your show, and this has been a really fun relationship that we're building and a [00:04:00] journey, but I'd love to start with your journey.

What was your initial reaction to AI? What made you transition from potentially hesitant to becoming, one of the top AI advocates.

[00:04:12] Kinsey Soderberg: I'm so glad you start there because it's so true. I've been in the online entrepreneur space for five plus years now. I've been growing my first brand, Feel Good Social, on the values of authenticity and showing up online in a way that feels good to you without wasting your time or selling your soul. That's my little tagline for Feel Good Social, right? So, fast forward to about a year and a half ago, almost two years ago now, which is crazy.

That's when I first started hearing about the AI buzz in the online entrepreneur space. Everyone's like, did you hear about this tool? Are you using Chat GPT? Did you hear about all this AI stuff? And I'll be honest when I first heard about these AI tools like ChatGPT and whatnot, I was a total curmudgeon about it.

I like to say, I [00:05:00] was like the grumpy grandpa shaking my fist at the neighbor's fence. Like, isn't the internet fake enough as it is? What is this going to do to our critical thinking skills or creativity? Are robots going to take over the world? Like all of those AI hesitations and scaries came through my mind.

And at first when I. My first reaction was like no, these aren't good. Gotta like reject them, and then I started hearing more. I got a little bit more curious and I was on a long drive listening to a podcast one day, and I had one of those long drive epiphanies where I realized that the reason I was so grumpy about AI tools is because I was a.

And I realized that AI tools are here, and the best thing I can do is instead of turning away from them, turn toward them and get curious about how can we make them work for us in a way that aligns with us, right? Because that's [00:06:00] ultimately like my biggest concern when it comes to using AI tools. And I think a lot of other women and other entrepreneurs are concerned about that, too, is.

How could we use these tools to boost our productivity without sacrificing our authenticity? The thing that makes our brand so unique and magnetic to our perfect people, right? And so I started just getting curious about them, dipping my toes into this AI world. And I really, honestly, when I started using them, my eyes were open to the possibility of how we can use them.

And honestly, all the things that I teach, everything that I share and talk about my human first approach that I talk about often. It's all helping us use these tools in a way that still is aligned with us. That's not going to sacrifice our authenticity. And like you said, amazed. I'm still like like just, it's crazy how much time I have literally been saving, how much more I've been able to do now growing AI and Feel Good Social side by side, like in the past year and a half.

I'm like. [00:07:00] Wow. Like three years ago when it was just feel good social, I was so much more burnt out every day and just trying to like make it all happen versus now trying to grow two brands. Like, am I still driving myself into the ground sometimes? Of course, that's the way of entrepreneurs, but still like it's it's just insane how much time I'm saving and how much more I'm able to get done and spread my message further, help more people, all the things.

[00:07:25] Mike Allton: Oh my gosh. I relate so hard to everything that you just said, particularly that curmudgeonly approach. Gosh, I remember a couple of years ago, friends of mine started to share AI generated images to their social feeds.

And I just recall so distinctly thinking. Those are garbage. Why are you sharing these? Why are you using these? They're junk. And now I'm using that all the time. Every blog post, my featured image is an AI generated image. And I had so much fun just last week creating an entire new slide deck for a college guest lecture I was giving [00:08:00] on, on AI and I, and. Chat GPT helped me identify this great analogy of Da Vinci and his workshop and all these assistants, like a modern marketer having all these AI assistants. So we created this entire slide deck filled with Da Vinci workshop, imagery and analogies. And it was beautiful all thanks to AI to DALL-E 3 and Chat GPT and having so much fun with it.

But to your other point. Also saving so much time. It's incredible how fast that, that came together for me. You've talked about how much time you're saving. Walk us through some specific examples of how you're integrating AI into your daily workflow.

[00:08:42] Kinsey Soderberg: Yes, yes, yes, yes. Oh my gosh. And I love this too, because for sure, when people first start to think about using AI tools, a lot of times it's like the first initial scaries, like hesitations.

And you're like, nope, too techie for me to. Icky or bro for me. Like, I don't want to do it. [00:09:00] So the first thing is overcoming those, but then when you start to dip your toes into this world, it's like, wow, there is so much I can do with this. How the heck do I get started? Right? So if you are at that very first step where you haven't used these tools at all, the first thing I want you to do is go to Chat GPT. com. It's my favorite, easy, free tool to get started with. Just set up a free account, open it up and just introduce yourself in the chat window. Tell it who you are, tell it your business, tell it anything you think it would like to know and ask, how can you help me? Believe me, Chat GPT will have a lot of ideas for you.

So there's that. If you are at the very beginning stages of using these tools, but then when it comes to integrating AI tools into your own business in your daily life, especially your business, I like to think about it. I like to think about the two different. camps of tasks in our business, right?

First, we have our regular workflows and systems, the work that we do in a repeatable way [00:10:00] on a day to day. So for me, that looks like podcasting workflows or content creation, workflows, things like that. Right? So think about those workflows and systems that you already have for getting stuff done in your business and starting to get curious about the ways you can start integrating AI tools into specific steps in those workflows that you already have working for you, right? Just because you're using AI tools. It doesn't mean that you have to completely revamp the stuff that's already helping you get stuff done in your business. Right? So for me, that could look like having AI help me write my podcast show notes.

Oh my gosh, that is such a lifesaver for me because literally as I'm editing podcast episodes, this it's like you're editing, editing, editing by the end. You're like, I'm so tired. I don't, I hate listening to my own voice. What the heck do we even talk about? What will people find interesting in this conversation?

So I will use an AI tool to help me write the show notes for my podcast episode every week formatted in the way that I use every week. Just like it swaps out the [00:11:00] bullet points and the intros. For me and all that different stuff, and it just is such a lifesaver, right? For conduct creation, I have an AI reels workflow that I use that works really well, and I've integrated AI into that workflow in a way to help me write the captions and write the hooks for my reels and all that different stuff.

So what does that look like for your business? It can also look like if you have team meetings, having AI help you write the action points from the meetings or summaries or anything like that, or even writing client emails, anything like that. Think about the tasks that you already have in place and just get curious about how AI tools might be able to help you speed up your process a little bit, or make things a little bit easier.

And then there's the second type of tasks that we have in our business. And this is what I love to bring up whenever I have podcast interviews, because this is truly where I find myself saving so much time still on top of the site, the time I'm already saving. Using AI tools in my workflows, right? The second type of tasks that [00:12:00] we have in our business are the kind of spur of the moment tasks, right?

Or just when you're working through your day to day, and all of a sudden you hit a block, you hit a pressure point where you have to stop your workflow and figure something out, right? And that is where I am having AI saved me so much time because before using AI tools, I would just be typing along, writing my Instagram caption, feeling good.

And all of a sudden I'd hit a wall and I'd be like, I don't know how to finish this thing. Like the first three fourths of this thing are so good. But like now I'm spending an hour, like banging my head against the keyboard, trying to figure out how the heck to finish this. And so, that is when I turned to Chat GPT and I'll be like, help me finish this Instagram caption or another example of one of those daily moment pressure points is when I was creating a sales page for one of my online courses.

And I was. it for the first time. And I wanted to add a countdown timer to my Squarespace [00:13:00] website. And I needed to find a specific code to do that. Sure. Could I have paid for like some program to help me how to code to my website? Yes. But I also want to save money where I can. So I was like, I know I can do this with a Squarespace website code, but I did not want to go through a Squarespace website tech forum. I hate going down tech forums because I'm like trying to find the answer I want. And I have no idea what everyone is saying. So instead I turned to Chat GPT and I was like, can you help me write a code for a Squarespace website for a countdown timer, blah, blah, blah. It did. It wrote the code in 10 seconds.

It helps me add it to my Squarespace website. Did I have to tweak it a bit? Yes. But actually Chat GPT helped me tweak it because I was like, this, is it working? And I was like, Oh, try this. Okay, great. So, it's all of those like little daily tasks that you can't plan for, but they pop up all the time for us that waste time because we're just like stuck.

Right. So if we can use these AI tools to help us push [00:14:00] past those pressure points, those blocks, those getting stuck points in our business, we are saving so much time simply by not wasting it. And the one thing I want to say too, real quick is when I first started using AI tools, I was not used to using them, right. So I would get stuck and I would forget like, Oh, I, or I wouldn't know that I could go to Chat GPT for something. So I always liked it recommend that people use this handy dandy technology called a sticky note. I wrote on a sticky note, can Chat GPT help me with this? I stuck it next to my computer screen.

And then as I was working through my day and I would get stuck, I would like, do the. Big eye roll, look next to my computer screen and see the sticky note, can Chat GPT help me with this? Oh, I don't know. Let's go find out. And that is how I have trained myself now to go to Chat GPT whenever I hit that kind of stuck point, right? So I always like to tell people to do that because it works. I swear. [00:15:00]

[00:15:01] Mike Allton: I love that tip because I was literally thinking a moment ago while you were talking about how I too, have been hitting that recurring theme of, gosh, I could have just gone to Chat GPT first, instead of trying all the normal things that I'm used to doing over the past five to 10 years of digital marketing.

And I need like, what I need is Chat GPT, just in a small window, always present on my screen instead of an app that's usually minimized, unless I'm working in it so that I've got that visual reminder, sticky note would do the same thing. Just last week. I was trying to analyze podcast analytics and the struggle there is we've got different analytics from different platforms.

They don't all really come together. So it's really hard to tell. And what I really just want to know was how many downloads per month am I getting with, with, with this show, with AI and marketing unpacked. Cause I, I I could not see that as an answer as a number on any of the platforms that I'm using.

And I've got YouTube and Spotify and Apple and so on. And so my old marketing brain said, well, just throw all the stats in a spreadsheet and then [00:16:00] you can tally them up and average it and get the totals. And I started doing that. And I'm like 10 minutes into this new project that I've just given myself.

And then I realized, oh, why don't I just dump it all into chat GPT? And then ask it. And within moments I had the answer. I knew exactly what it was. And so that's the kind of thing we have to keep training ourselves. And I like where we started this conversation because I consider this kind of baseline, right?

This is where we're at. This is the kinds of things that we should be doing, the mindset that we should be having, but now I want to specifically talk about women. This show, I don't talk about it implicitly. Expressly. So people may not realize, but we're a real champion for women on this show. Two thirds of the guests have been women and minorities.

It's something that I've really championed at Agorapulse have bringing women speakers and that sort of thing, because there's such a disadvantage when it comes to technology when it comes to corporate environment and so much more. So we, all that said, we've had a lot of female guests on the show and we've talked around this issue [00:17:00] of women's approach to AI and the technology's approach to women.

But I'd love your take on what some of the most common fears and objections you hear from women entrepreneurs, in particular, when it comes to adopting AI and how do you address them?

[00:17:15] Kinsey Soderberg: Yeah. Oh, thank you so much. Firstly, for being a champion of women and underrepresented people, because like, We need champions, and even if you're doing it without explicitly saying it all the time, like we appreciate it and we, and I appreciate you.

But yeah, for sure. This whole topic of like women in AI tools, the gender bias that can happen. It was first brought to my attention by Dr. Nici Sweaney out of Australia. She actually did a Ted talk on this recently, and we've been keeping in touch and I've just been spreading the message. As much as I can, because it's important to realize it's not something that we often even realize about ourselves as women.

But long story short, there's been studies done that, obviously there's a huge gender gap in the tech [00:18:00] industry in general anyway, but then when it comes to AI tools, I think last I checked, it was like. In the 80 percent somewhere in the 80 percent of the AI industry leaders are men for sure.

There's also been studies done that women are two times less likely to use the top 50 AI tools than men, right? And this is a problem for a lot of reasons. Firstly, Think about how, actually there's been studies proven that AI tools are, can boost your productivity by up to 40%, right?

So in the just online business space and also just in the general, world of working and stuff, if you think about more men are using AI tools than women, that means that more men are more likely to be put up for that promotion or get that raise. Right. And so. This means that if more men are using AI tools than women, then the gender gap will increase the gender income gap will increase instead of decreasing, like we've been working [00:19:00] at for years and years and years.

Right. Also when it comes to using AI tools, these tools at this point are trained by the user. So if more men are using AI tools than women then the tools are, Probably more likely to adapt the traits of men, the language of men, the critical thinking skills of men in a certain way, right?

Because more men are just simply using them, right? And so when it comes to women using AI tools, it's really about us showing up in these tools, putting our own ideas, our own energy, our own language thoughts into these tools and allowing ourselves to be represented in future AI models, right? So.

There, it really is important that women hear this and they think of it as, almost the, when I when I was talking to Dr. Nici Sweaney on my podcast and interviewing her, she was like, this is a call to, I was like, this is a call to action. If I ever heard one, she's like, this is a call to arms or something.

I don't remember [00:20:00] what she said, but it really is like a duty almost for women to, get curious about using these tools if we don't want to fall behind further in just our society and our culture. And also if we want to be represented and create future AI tools that represent us as well. Right.

But the thing that really gets under my skin when it comes to women using AI tools is the reason behind this. Why are women less likely to use AI tools than men? And of course there's, the just normal kind of cultural stuff of women haven't always been accepted or encouraged in the STEM subjects, science and math, the tech world is, has always leaned a little bit more toward men, than women and all that different stuff.

So there's a cultural reason for sure, but I still remember the first time I was being interviewed on another woman's podcast about AI and she looked at me and she was like, so what do you say to the women who feel guilty? About using these tools [00:21:00] who feel like they're cutting corners, or they're not doing the work.

Right. And myself as someone who, I just always have gone for it all my life. I was like, Oh, this is a thing. I didn't even realize this was a thing, but this is a thing. And honestly, it's bigger than just AI tools. It's a cultural internal belief, honestly, that we as women have had to grow up being concerned about the way we portray ourselves in society, being concerned about the hard work that we do in order to be respected in our society, right? And so it's one of those things where it's like, honestly, when you hear men talking about using AI tools, it's innovative, it's productive. But a lot of times when women are using AI tools and we think we do this to ourselves too, right?

But it's this internal thing of, Ooh, I feel guilty. I'm cutting corners. I'm not doing the work. Right. And so I do think it's an internal shift that we need to make as women and that we need to talk about and spread and encourage and [00:22:00] share, and also as men can encourage us and share as well.

Right. But it is one of those interesting things to think about that using AI tools is not cutting corners. It's a tool that's helping you to be more productive. Right? It can. And you don't have to sacrifice the quality of your work or your authenticity to when using these tools. There are ways you can use these tools without turning your brand into a bro brand or lose the authenticity or feeling like you're sacrificing the quality of work that you want to put out into the world.

[00:22:35] Mike Allton: You're absolutely right. This is a cultural truth sadly, in this country We just saw an election where one of the candidates is referred to as a DEI hire you know because it's just this there's this mindset that's dramatically wrong and all we can do is push back on it and I appreciate that you're doing that with with many folks that you work with and I want to get into some of the things that you've talked about specifically in just a moment.

But before we do, are there any examples [00:23:00] of women that you've worked with specifically that you can share who they were initially resistant to AI, many, probably for many of the reasons you just mentioned, but they saw real transformative results after implementing AI.

[00:23:12] Kinsey Soderberg: Oh yeah, like it's like pretty much all of my students, right? I have heard from my students so many times where it's like, oh my gosh, you made me realize that like, I don't, I can use these tools without feeling like icky or gross, like so many of my students come back to me. They're like, oh my gosh, I'm using the tools that you teach and like the blueprints that you create and stuff for myself and my clients.

It's saving me so much time every week, they realize that like, it really doesn't have to be that hard to take just a few extra steps to use these tools where you're training these models to think and sound like you, like your brand. And so I'm just going to these tools and having it do the work for you, right?

So, my students and clients, literally, I teach a [00:24:00] human first approach to AI tools. So it really is, instead of going to Chat GPT and saying, write me an Instagram caption, it's going to Chat GPT and saying, write me an Instagram caption about this.

These are the tips I want to include. This is the opinion I want to share. This is who we're speaking to. This is who my brand is, right? It's like, and even when it comes to Instagram captions, because I'm a total word nerd and I, Obsess over my writing. I, I even give Chat GPT like templates of how I want the caption to go.

And then it will spit out a caption to me in like 15 seconds. That is pretty spot on of what I would have written just because of the way that I'm working with this tool, the way I'm training it on my brand, giving it the information that it needs to do the best work for me and literally, yeah. Like if you're hesitant to use AI tools.

What I want to tell you is don't just go try to use all the generic caption or all the generic prompts that [00:25:00] everyone is sharing on the internet. Like really take the time to train your AI assistant on your brand. Take the time to learn just a little bit better prompting skills and how to work with the tool.

And that's where the magic happens. And that's where I think the disconnect is between people. using AI tools who are frustrated with them, not getting the results that they want and the people who are using these tools and, and are seeing amazing results and saving so much time. And really, yeah, the difference is just shifting that belief of thinking that AI is going to do all the work for you instead of working with these tools in collaboration to get your work done with you.

Right.

[00:25:45] Mike Allton: Yeah. I couldn't agree more. Folks, we're talking with Kinsey about the role that AI can play in helping women succeed. And in a moment, we'll talk about the role women we'll play in the success of AI, but first a quick word from our sponsor.

So Kinsey, speaking of tools, what, what are some entry level tools that you recommend for women in particular [00:27:00] that are just starting their AI journey?

[00:27:03] Kinsey Soderberg: Yeah. I, I'm a Chat GPT girly, like it's the, one of the OG tools for sure. And I still love that. It is free the free version and now you can do pretty much all of the same things as with the paid version, which is so awesome. And so Chat GPT is basically your simple chat bot that you can have a conversation back and forth with it.

I love that it has the file upload feature because then you can upload. I use the file upload feature to upload what I call my brand blueprint, which is an outline. That's like 80 pages of like everything it needs to know about my entire brand. And it makes training your AI assistant so easy so you can get better results from it.

So yeah, I would start with Chat GPT, but there are similar tools out there like Claude Gemini, anything like that. Right. So that's like kind of your, Go to [00:28:00] chat bot that you can just have ChatGPT help you do so many things such as just help you with your day to day Tasks help you with copywriting anything like that, right?

And then the other AI tool that I use all the time is Descript and this is a video editing software that has AI tools and AI features built into it But Descript is what I use to edit all of my podcast episodes and whatnot. I also use Descript to analyze my like client calls or my clients will send me like, just like 10 minute videos of them.

Just off the cuff talking about a specific topic. And then I will take that like. Transcript from the video that they created for me and then turn that into content for their monthly content for social media and emails and blogs and all that different stuff. But the script is so, so great.

It also, you can edit the videos with a text based editor. So it's like editing a video, like you would edit a Google doc [00:29:00] or something. And then it also has automated AI features where you can have it write your show notes for you. You can have it create clips. From your video automatically.

Right. So this is so great for my podcast when it can create like five social media clips for me automatically in like 10 seconds from the original video. So yeah Chat GPT and Descript are my two go to. AI tools that I use every day and I pay for, and I will say, even as an AI expert, like I have had to set boundaries with the AI tools because there are so many out there and it's really easy to get swept up into, Oh my gosh, which one is the best?

Oh my gosh. Like all these different things. Right. So I always stick to, when it comes to AI tools thing, I'm like, okay, I have my two that I love. They are working for me. If they stop working for me. That's when I might go out and try some other tools or something. And if I'm looking for something that these tools can't provide me, that's when I'll go to my friends.

I [00:30:00] have been keeping kind of an AI toolkit like tool recommendation kit ongoing, just from like, tools that I hear recommended from my podcast guests and all the different stuff. So, but definitely whenever it comes to trying to find the AI tools that you're looking for, my recommendation is to always just like, Try not to get sucked into trying all the tools and then end up paying for all the subscriptions because most of the tools end up doing similar things and, and you end up wasting time if you get sucked down those holes instead of Saving time like these tools are supposed to do for you.

[00:30:38] Mike Allton: That is terrific advice. First of all, I love the script. I use it as well. I use it for this podcast. I use it for analyzing customer interviews that I do and generating nice transcripts that have the speaker labels and everything. So it's easy to follow and transform from there. And so many of the uses, that's one of the beauties of a tool like that.

The more you use it, the more you realize, Oh, I could, I could use it for this. Oh, wait, I could actually [00:31:00] record the video in there and then edit it and do all these kinds of things. And your, your point about too many tools is. So valid. That's why I'm a huge fan of, of Magai. I pay Magai that's starting at 20 bucks a month.

And with that, I get the paid level access to Chat GPT, Claude, Gemini, Meta, Grok, as well as the image generation tools, DALL-E 3, Runway, Leonardo, Flex, a whole bunch of others. So it's, I found it's a really great way to then easily play with all these other tools, like I could put in a prompt for an image, and then I could run that same prompt through eight different image generators and see which one I like best for that style of image.

Because strangely, they're not all the same. They have different training guidelines and so on. So the output ends up being vastly different sometimes. But that's, that's, that's all terrific advice. I'd love to know if you could share how AI has helped you grow your business and still maintain that work life [00:32:00] balance.

And while you're thinking about that, I also, there was one other point I was going to make is that you mentioned your, your brand blueprint, which I've heard you talk about in your own show. It's, it's a fantastic approach, but folks, I'm going to link to one of Kinsey's podcast episodes that you can go and listen to exactly what she's talking about with that.

Because that is an absolute essential way to approach using AI. But back to you work life balance. How's that, how's that happening for you?

[00:32:26] Kinsey Soderberg: Oh yeah. Okay. So I'm so glad you brought that up because literally I do have to say this every time I'm on a podcast that is strictly kind of like, Focusing on entrepreneurs in the audience and whatnot, guys, we got to have a reckoning with ourselves.

We are just naturally ambitious people. And so I did find that when I started using these tools, I was like, Oh my gosh, I'm getting so much done. I can do so much more. Right. And so I found that I was Still driving myself into the ground all the time. Just doing way, way, way, way more. And then all of a sudden my dreams were getting [00:33:00] bigger.

My to do lists were getting longer because I could add more to the to do list because I was getting more done more quickly. And then I had to have that reckoning with myself. It's like, no kids, save a little bit of this time saved for that wiggle room behind the scenes to actually enjoy your life.

Right? So it is a conscious choice. I think that we have to make as entrepreneurs to be like, Oh no, I, I could do more, I could add another two blog posts per week instead of one blog, blog posts per week, but. Do I need to, and should I like, what is valuable in life? Anyway, is it like finding that work life balance?

Yeah. Okay. Let's make it happen. Right. So, setting boundaries with yourself is great. I have found that it was like, definitely, definitely took some intentionality and tweaking for myself to find that work life balance where it's like especially as I'm growing to brands and. Two businesses, right?

Because I added my authentic AI as a sister brand. So now of course I have two podcasts, two Instagrams and two, all the things. Right. But I still [00:34:00] have found even growing two brands alongside each other. I have been actually shutting my computer every day at. Four instead of five and just going downstairs.

And I picked up a new crafting hobby. It's like seed beading, creating CBD earrings. I've been doing that every day at 4 PM instead of 5 PM at 5 PM. I would have normally been making dinner and stuff. Right. So it's really it's awesome. Like these tools truly can save you so much more time and then it allows you this extra wiggle room.

And it's up to you to be intentional about how you. spend that wiggle room, right? Because it is easy for us to be like, let's do more. Let's be even more ambitious. But also, and especially too, I have found using Chat GPT, my brain needs more relaxation time, right? Because my imagination, my creativity is so, so expanded using these tools every day because [00:35:00] literally I don't have any downtime where I'm feeling frustrated or I'm feeling like, banging my head against the keyboard or just like tapping my fingers on the desk.

Like I don't really have that downtime built in anymore because I'm just go, go, go all day because AI tools are allowing me to do that. And so I have found that it really is nice to. balance my energy in that way with intentionally being like, Nope, closing your computer at four o'clock every day, going down to like work with my hands on something and get out of my brain, right?

[00:35:32] Mike Allton: Oh my gosh, that is such terrific advice. I was nodding the entire time. You couldn't see it, but I felt that so hard. Here I am with this podcast. This is my side hustle. I worked full time for Agorapulse, but throughout the entire month of October, I thought, Oh, I could, I can release two podcast episodes a week.

Why not? I've got that kind of time, but so yeah, I'm just pounding myself into the ground over and over and over again. We got to step away from that. In fact, we did a whole episode with Tamra Moroski about mindset, about the [00:36:00] ways that AI can so powerfully save us time, which we can then free up to just Sit back and think and reflect about where we want to go with our lives.

I get asked all the time, Oh, if AI can save me 10 hours a week, what am I supposed to do with that extra time? And I said, well, start by using that time to think about what else you might do with that time. We don't give ourselves the opportunity to really, really think and plan long term. We're in the rat race.

We're running to the next thing and the next thing. That's something else that AI I think can really help us with now. What role. Do you think women entrepreneurs could play in actually shaping the future of AI? How do you see them? Shifting and evolving AI and AI and marketing specifically.

[00:36:46] Kinsey Soderberg: Yeah, okay.

I don't want to Be a downer. I really appreciate you Mike. I don't want to be like a downer when it comes to To the bros out there, not calling you a bro or anything. [00:37:00] However I have found, and I probably most people can attest to this in the marketing world, especially there are what we call the bro marketers who are a little bit more caring about quantity over quality.

Right. And are a little bit more. forceful, a little bit more salesy following along with that masculine energy versus more. So a little bit more of the like softer feminine energy. Right. So, so I think when it comes to AI tools and like. My approach to them, Authentic AI, using that human first approach, making sure that we're running everything through the filter of our brand and still using our own critical thinking skills, bring our own beliefs, opinions, creativity to these tools.

I think it's really helpful because then it, it. It allows for that balance, right? Like there's nothing against the bro marketers. They can do whatever they want, but there is a balance that we can find them between bro marketing versus a little bit more feminine energy marketing. And I think if [00:38:00] more women start using these tools, then we will allow ourselves to bring that feminine energy to these tools, allow ourselves to continue spreading the message that like these tools don't have to sacrifice your quality of work, right?

We can at this point if you haven't started using these, using these tools, you might not be able to pick out AI written subject lines or emails yet, but once you start using these tools, I promise you will immediately be able to spot typical AI written content. Everywhere in your life, right? There's always the tells when it comes to AI written content, the subject lines always have colons in them.

They always start with unlock the power of something, right? There's way too many rocket emojis out there, guys. Let's. Stop, let's cool it with the rocket emojis just a little bit. So those are all like telltale signs of using AI tools. And that is why people are somewhat getting like annoyed with them or feeling [00:39:00] like the quality of content on the internet these days is really going downhill.

I've heard that from a lot of people, but like, if we can start using these tools with that human first approach, literally I use AI tools all the time. And I've had people come back to me. Come back and reply to my emails being like, Hey, like, I know that you're talking about using AI tools in this email, like, did you have AI write it? Cause it really sounds like you just wrote it. I'm like, no, I had AI write it, but because of the way that I used it. Right. So, that's why I want to just keep encouraging more women to use these tools and don't try not to be turned off about. On them, like get curious about them and, and come to me for any tips you want when it comes to getting better results from the tools, because I know the first time you start using them, it's kind of like, Oh, this isn't what I'm looking for.

I feel like I could have done this faster if I did it myself. Well, I'm here to tell you that I'm a word nerd. I'm super picky with my writing. And literally I used to spend like 60 minutes [00:40:00] writing one Instagram caption myself because I would labor over every word and it was like, and I wasn't, I wasn't proud of the fact that it was taking me 60 minutes to write, but I couldn't get it out.

I couldn't get it out or perfect enough. Right. Unless it took me an hour. And now with AI tools, I actually create an Instagram post in more like 15 minutes and sometimes even like five minutes. And it's still, I still labor over every word. I still make sure that what I'm putting out into the world is what I want is like something that I'm proud of, but because of AI and the way that I work with it and use it, it.

It really does save me 45 minutes to 50 minutes every time I create an Instagram post. And it still feels like it's genuinely coming from me. So, yeah, I feel like the more women start using these tools the more we can just like continue growing with our society instead of being left behind,

[00:40:52] Mike Allton: That is such a great answer.

And I love that approach. I did a whole solo episode. I'll link to it below about creating custom GPTs and, and doing the pre [00:41:00] work to give the AI the instructions it needs to sound like you, to talk to your target audience, that's another big thing that's just so important for all marketers, you gotta make sure that the AI knows who you're trying to reach with your content.

It's not everybody in the world. Most marketers make that mistake, whether they're using AI or not. Right. They think, well, everybody could use my products. So I'm just going to talk to everybody. No, no, no, no, no, no. You need to have target ICPs and you need to tell it the AI who that is for the women who are, they're still feeling a little bit overwhelmed by AI.

Maybe they're still feeling that, that guilt about using it as a, as a tool, or they're thinking about using it as a crutch. What's one small step that you think that they could take today to start that journey?

[00:41:43] Kinsey Soderberg: Yeah, I think that if you're still feeling just like a little bit nervous about using these tools, remember that you're using these tools in collaboration with you, the work that you're already doing with the steps that you're already taking.

Right? So it's not like you're going to these tools and being like, Do the work for [00:42:00] me. And that's how you're like, if you would do that, that's how you wouldn't get the best results anyway from them. And you'd end up getting frustrated with them probably. Right. So remember that you are working with these tools.

I think about my tool, my AI tool as a team member. I honestly talk to it like a team member too. I've said, thank you. I have it. Give me pep talks. I explain things. I make jokes. to it and make it laugh at me because I think I'm funny. Like thinking of these tools as like a team member is a really nice mindset shift and stuff.

And remembering that you're working with these tools and that you are still in charge of your brand and you are still putting work out into the world that is an authentic representation of who you are. And so the first thing I always recommend people do is just open up chat GPT. And just brain dump, literally, it doesn't even have to be full sentences.

It doesn't have to be correct spelling, just like brain dump, anything you can think to tell it about yourself and your brand, if you're using it for your [00:43:00] business. Right. And also telling it about your ideal customers is great. Like Mike said, and just Brain dump, anything you can think of into this tool.

And then at the bottom be like, how can you help me? Right. Of the, whatever your brain dumping and Chat GPT will have a lot of ideas for you and remember that it's a conversation back and forth and tell it, tell it your ideas that you have, like, well, I'm trying to do this, or I was thinking maybe this, like, is this something you can help me with and just getting curious with it that way and allowing it to be your team member and having that conversation back and forth with it is helpful for overcoming that like mindset ickiness. I think

[00:43:38] Mike Allton: Kinsey, you have been an absolute delight and I can't tell you how much I appreciate you coming on and talking about this super important topic for folks who do want to know more about your approaches.

They want to listen to your podcast, those kinds of things. Where can they go to reach out?

[00:43:55] Kinsey Soderberg: Yeah. Oh, I have an AI podcast. It's called Authentic [00:44:00] AI for Entrepreneurs. So if you search any podcast platform, authentic AI, it should pop up.
